Readings to Prepare for Advent

Posted November 22, 2021

This Sunday, November 28, is the first Sunday of Advent.

This year, as we prepare for the birth of Christ, we focus on "Fruits of the Spirit"

The Love of Christ & love for others. "Love is the key. Joy is love singing. Peace is love resting. Long-suffering is love enduring. kindness is love's touch. goodness is love's character. Faithfulness is love's habit. Gentleness is love's self-forgetfulness. Self-control is love holding the reins."

1 Thessalonians 3:9-12

English Standard Version

9 For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy that we feel for your sake before our God, 10 as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith?

11 Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, 12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you,

Mark 4:37-41

English Standard Version

37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
